Marg Johansen Scholarship Award

TThe Arts Alliance of Yamhill County is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for its annual high school scholarship award, the Marg Johansen Scholarship. This award is presented to honor the memory of Marg Johansen, an artist who died in 2004. She was an active member of our arts community, and her work may be seen in many locations all over the world, as well as in Yamhill County.

The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who intends to further his or her education in an arts-related field. Any high school senior in Yamhill County may apply for this $500 scholarship by submitting a one-page written statement as to why he/she wishes to further his or her education in an arts-related field and how the student intends to develop his/her art. In addition, the student needs to submit two letters of reference regarding his or her past arts activities, one of which must be from a teacher, as well as a résumé indicating both educational and artistic accomplishments. The Arts Alliance’s Education Committee will select the winner from applications received, and the award will be presented at the recipient’s high school awards ceremony or graduation.
All interested seniors should send their completed application materials to: Arts Alliance of Yamhill County, Attn: Beth Thompson, P.O. Box 898, McMinnville, OR 97128. Applications must be received by April 10, 2012. Any late applications will not be considered.
