Gail Watson, an Arts Alliance of Yamhill County Board member, uses her ipad to record part of Paulann Petersen's creative writing workshop held at the Chemeketa Community College campus in McMinnville. Paulann Petersen is the current Oregon Poet Laureate. Her four hour Youth Outreach Writing Workshop from 1 to 4 PM today is part of the on going program of the Terroir Creative Writing Festival to be held this April 19th at McMinnville Chemeketa Community College.
Recently, Paulann Petersen talked to the Oregonian reporter Jeff Baker "I have the privilege of being an ambassador for poetry in our state, and I do that in such a way as to make the embrace of poetry as wide as possible." Those are not idle words. poet laureate Petersen spent four hours today with mostly youthful writers providing them with her extensive knowledge of craft and her boundless enthusiasm for writing and poetry. Those attending the workshop will take away not only the experience of a first class hands on workshop, but also being able to share Petersen's generosity of spirit, knowledge, and love of poetry.
Paulann Petersen will also be at the Terroir Creative Writing Festival on April, 19th. It is early, but not too early to make plans to pre-regester for the Festival.
